MY GOODNESS. WHERE IS MONICA?! WHERE ARE THE PUPPIES?! 😂

Eight days. EIGHT. I disappear for eight days and suddenly it looks like I packed up the puppies and fled the country.

I did not. I promise.

We escaped for a few days to a beach house in Mattapoisett, close enough to home that I could still keep tabs on everything, and spent the rest of the time working like absolute animals so we could actually take those beach-house days. So if you were picturing some glamorous disappearance… absolutely not.  You really didn’t miss much.

But you DID miss puppies doing what puppies do best, which is somehow changing completely in approximately five minutes.

We are approaching 4 weeks old, which means we are basically HALFWAY THERE.

And this is one of my favorite stages because their little brains are coming online in real time.

They’re wobbling around.
They’re exploring.
They’re yelling.
They’re crying.
They’re startling themselves.
They’re wrestling and fighting with each other.
They’re figuring out where the dog door is… and then occasionally getting themselves stuck outside while the door is LITERALLY WIDE OPEN. 😂

And for the most part, we don’t immediately rescue them.

This is where some of those really basic learning blocks begin. They have to pause, think, problem solve, try something, fail, try again and figure out how to get themselves where they want to go. Those tiny moments are the beginning of confidence, independence and overall problem-solving ability.

Food is getting much more exciting too.

They’re now eating three times a day, while still nursing from Mom, and we’re beginning to introduce a little free feeding with dry food available for them to investigate and crunch with those tiny new teeth. They still get their soft puppy mush AND Mom’s milk, so basically… best of all worlds.

A little disappointing breeding update 🤍

Unfortunately, Bougie and Ghost did not take this breeding.

I know a few families were watching that particular pairing specifically for a cream puppy. If you are currently reserved and cream is your only preference with no flexibility on color, please reach out to me so we can talk through your options and make sure I have you accounted for correctly.

Everyone else here is doing great.

We sent Bougie and Mazey home yesterday after they had been hanging out here for over a week while their family was off cruising around Bermuda.

Which means right now I only have…

Pie and her puppies.
Reign.
Caliber.
Boston.
Guinness.

ONLY.

Apparently my definition of “not that many dogs here right now” is slightly questionable.

AND… THE BARN…

The kennels are UP.

Is everything completely finished and camera-ready the way I imagined before showing everyone? Absolutely not.

Am I going to show you anyway?

Apparently yes.

Because I have been working on something fun.

Tonight around 5:00 PM, I am going to attempt our first LIVE PUPPY CAM.

I’ll send another update when I’m actually turning it on so nobody is sitting there refreshing and wondering where I am.

Big emphasis on TRIAL RUN.

We may buffer.
The barn Wi-Fi may decide it hates me.
I may turn the stream off and back on 47 times while I’m messing with things.
There is no audio.
Something may completely stop working.

Who knows.

But if all goes well, you’ll be able to pop in and actually watch the puppies doing their thing live.

And if tonight is a complete technological disaster, we regroup and try again. 🤷‍♀️

Around week 5, I begin scheduling everyone’s 8-week pickup appointment. You will be contacted in numerical reservation order so everyone’s position stays aligned and the scheduling process stays fair.
